✅ When to use a split liner:
A split liner can be used when the shaft liner is worn or grooved, but you want to avoid removing the whole shaft. Instead of a costly and time-consuming shaft withdrawal, the split liner can be installed directly around it, even while the shaft remains in place.
💡 Pros of a split liner:
✔️ No need to pull the shaft
✔️ Saves significant dry dock time
✔️ Reduces overall repair costs
✔️ Less disruption to vessel schedule
⚖️ Cons to consider:
✖️ Higher material and higher manufacturing cost than a standard liner
✖️ More complex installation, requiring precise alignment
✖️ Higher risks of leakage on the mating surface if not installed perfectly
✖️ Limited space can make installation challenging/ impossible, especially on older vessels
✖️ Depending on the design, it can be impossible to install a split liner due to the liner’s wall thickness, as the 2 halves need to be bolted together.
On non-split designs, it is usually not suitable to accommodate a retrofitted split liner.
✖️ In some cases, class approval may require additional documentation and inspections

Therefore, we only sell the one piece, regular liners.
